Where did April go?

Hell, where did May go?

I will have awesome pictures from Midnight Productions “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the wonderful Keswick theater…soon. They were taken by the AMAZING Lisa Helock Spring. I have to thank her for getting such wonderful shots because mine weren’t so good.

I’ve been working on some really fun things. Lots more playing with Copics. I’ll have lots of fun stuff to show, also soon.

I will be working on a production of “Agamemnon” this summer, so expect lots of art. In fact, here’s some art to hold you over:

“That kid is back on the escalator!”

Kevin Smith has always been a hero of mine. I’ve grown up watching his movies. I even have a dog named Brodie Bruce

Last night I finally had the chance to catch his show at a local theater. It was incredibly funny, and I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to try to see him. Not only is he funny, but he is also very nice.

To show my appreciation for his work and how much he has inspired me, I drew this picture for him. By time the show ended, it was past eleven and getting rather cold out. I think I was the only girl waiting by the stage door. The lone female in a sea of fan boys. Standing on a gentle slope in heels for an hour is a work out. But, I toughed it out.

Kevin didn’t make it out the stage door before I left, but Jason Mewes did. Not only did he sign my sketch book, but he took the sketch to give to Kevin Smith. I wish I had known he would be there, I would have made him a print. He is a very upstanding gentleman and took the picture right on to the tour bus.

I personalized this for Kevin Smith, but I was also very proud of the piece, so I wanted to share it with all of you, as well.

Snoogans.

Spring is FINALLY here

Official, it’s spring now. It’s still very cold out.

HOWEVER, baseball opens in less than two weeks. That is the official mark of spring.

I have some new work up. A couple make up pieces, and a new copic marker drawing. I have a lot of art that is almost ready for public consumption, so keep your eyes peeled. But not really, because that’s kind of gross.

New Tools

Excuse me while I get a little philosophical.

I’ve recently expanded my repertoire of art supplies to include markers.  Now I will admit I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to my art supplies.  In art classes I favored oil paints and charcoal and pen and ink, with a few brief forays with chalk pastel.  I liked the tools I was familiar with.  They were the tools of the masters.  I always thought, growing up, that markers and crayons were for little kids.  I was absolutely wrong about both of them.

I acquired a set of Copic markers in cool gray, and another set of the warm gray.  With a few splashes of sharpie thrown in, I’ve come to truly love the effect they create.    I am in love with markers.

Expect many pieces in the future featuring my new-found love.
